THE BUSINESS AND THE LAW KNOWLEDGE CAFÉ
A Knowledge Café is a conversational method in which small groups of people come together to have open, creative conversations on a topic of mutual interest, surface their collective knowledge, share ideas, and gain a deeper understanding of the issues involved. A Café, brings a group of people together to have a conversation on a topic of mutual interest to understand an issue better.
The objectives of a Café include the surfacing of the group’s collective knowledge, learning from each other, sharing ideas and insights, gaining a deeper understanding of a topic and the issues involved, and exploring possibilities. It also helps connect people, improve interpersonal relationships, break down organizational silos, and improve trust and engagement. What is different about the Knowledge Café than similar methodologies is that no attempt is made to make decisions or reach consensus as part of the Café itself. Often nothing is captured in a Café. The real outcomes are what people take away in their heads and the relationships they develop.
The Business and the Law Knowledge Café is convened by CC Gabriel & Company and curated by XCentaur Consult to provide a platform for exploring the relationship between business and the law. The law governs and regulates virtually all aspects of the business process from formation to exit and also provides strategies and safeguards that can be exploited to enhance the business experience and facilitate sustained business growth. In order to leverage the law as a tool for growth, it imperative that the entrepreneur or business owner fully appreciates the interaction between the business and law.
The Business and Law Series will run across several Knowledge Cafés held every 2 months and giving attendees opportunities to explore various subject matter including business formation and structuring, business licencing and regulatory compliance, contract negotiation and management, protection of intellectual property, Employment law and policies among others.
